An Inconvenient Truth

I finally got a chance to this movie and all I can say is wow. It’s been said this movie will terrify you, and it will. It puts together so much information on global warming. After seeing this movie, I feel as though I am more equipped to talk about global warming. Al Gore’s presentation is terrific; as others have described, he is funny, passionate, and not how he was seemingly portrayed in the 2000 election. I went with my friend to this movie, a global warming skeptic. While it did not make him as passionate about global warming as Gore, it did convince him that global warming is real and is a problem. That makes it all the more easier to see the power of An Inconvenient Truth and to recommend it.

Take your friends to see it, especially the skeptics. You can even get help paying for tickets or if you want to donate for others to see this movie, check out Sharethetruth.us (via Lessig).

Some of my most recent linkblog links:

I want those menus on my phone screen please.

So I called Greyhound the other day for a trip to Los Angeles for the coming weekend. They had what I thought was kind of a weird interface for making reservations. Rather than the new (but still annoying) computers that can process what people say over the phone, they have you navigate a set of menus to tell the system where you are leaving and where you are going. For example, “if you are leaving from a city in that starts with San or Santa, press (2 or something).” Their website is better, but it doesn’t have a way of checking your itinerary as easy as Southwest Airlines (though most airlines don’t have anything as good as Southwest).

Some company really needs to implement showing those menus on the screens of cell phones like 37signals (one of the best design firms) suggests. It could actually make phone systems easier than Internet systems.

Commence Walking

It’s been about a week since I walked on stage at the MCB commencement at the Greek Theater last Friday. Yes, I’ll still be around for an extra semester, but I had a chance to walk with some of the people I knew, so I took it. My parents and my brother came up North to see it, but my mom and dad ran off and missed me walk on stage, though. Bummer.

I’m the Goddamm Batman and how it reminds me of Xmen

I just saw Xmen: The Last Stand on Sunday. There’s one scene with Juggernaut where he says something like “Don’t you know who I am? I’m the Juggernaut, bitch!”, which according to Wikipedia is a reference to a fan dub of the cartoon show. It actually reminded me of this panel I had first seen in Wikipedia which was taken from All Star Batman and Robin.

Both had me laughing (though I doubt they both intended to). Anyways, I might write a full review of the movie, but I’ll say it right now: this was the worst of the Xmen movies by far.

Update: Some one else over at I-Mockery had the same idea about that panel, saying “Well, I guess he could have said ‘I’m the Juggernaut, bitch!’.” He also goes on to make fun of the last four issues of All Star Batman and Robin.

Another Update:Added link to fan dub.
