Allen Lew is a London area technologist. He currently works as a Systems Engineer for the Rubicon Project, whose “mission [is] to automate the $65 billion global online advertising industry.” He previously was a Quality Assurance Engineer at Rubicon, where we wrote automated tests for the REVV for Publishers interface. For his efforts, the Rubicon Project selected him as one of the recipients of the 2012 Cultural Values Awards.
Previously, Allen worked at Los Angeles Urban League, a nonprofit agency dedicated “to enabling African Americans and other minorities to secure economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights through advocacy activities and the provision of programs and services in our uniquely diversified city and region.” At the League, he contributed technical advice for the Neighborhoods@Work initiative, a nationally recognized neighborhood improvement plan in South Los Angeles, and redesigned and rebuilt their website, LAUL.org. LAUL has also recognized Mr. Lew for his work there, awarding him and his supervisor the Employee Team of the Year award for 2008.
He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, known to some as UC Berkeley, Berkeley, or Cal. There he majored in Molecular and Cell Biology with an emphasis in Immunology. His involvement on campus began with Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity-California Chapter, where he has held a variety of positions from Secretary to Philanthropy Chair. He was employed as a Computer Resource Specialist by the College Writing Programs of UC Berkeley, assisting faculty and staff in anything related to computers or technology. Allen also served as the director and news editor of Berkeley’s student portal, One.Berkeley.edu, and a writer for Calstuff.com, a blog devoted to news and opinion on UC Berkeley. In the summer of 2005, he worked for US News & World Report as a Web Intern where he was placed in charge of a variety of email newsletters, auto reviews, and a feature called College Flashback for the America’s Best Colleges 2005 edition.
